TikTok isn't just a visibility channel for youth brands, but it's also not an automatic growth solution for everyone. It's worth testing when the audience, product and content capacity support it.
The channel is worth testing when the target audience uses the platform, the product can be shown in an engaging way, and the company is ready to produce content suited to the TikTok environment on an ongoing basis.
Audience matters, but demographics alone don't decide it
TikTok's audience has broadened, but usage, purchasing behaviour and advertising scale vary by industry. Before testing, check Ads Manager's up-to-date estimate of reachable audience in Finland as well as your own analytics customer profile.
The channel can work well for beauty, fashion, wellness, food, app and lifestyle products, but also in B2B if the topic can be made easily approachable.
Audience size in Finland
TikTok currently (12 August 2026) has 1,616,000–1,976,000 users in Finland who can be targeted with ads. The largest age group is young people, but there are already nearly 750,000 users over 35 – so TikTok is no longer just a youth channel.
Content is the biggest resource question
TikTok itself recommends platform-native, vertical 9:16 video with sound, people, and a quickly understandable opening. An overly polished ad can feel out of place on TikTok.
A company needs to be able to produce several concepts and versions, not just one brand video a month. Useful starting points include:
- Creator content and employee videos
- Product demos and comparisons
- Stories and problem–solution structures
TikTok also emphasises the hook in the first seconds, captions, and continuous testing.
When a test makes sense
- Meta is already performing reasonably well and you want to diversify acquisition.
- Organic TikTok is producing signals.
- Competitors show active advertising there.
- The product benefits from demonstration and creator-led storytelling.
Don't start just because the channel is trendy. If the company lacks a working offer, measurement, a mobile-friendly site or content capacity, fix those first.
A reasonable starting budget
TikTok's technical minimum budgets and available features can change, so always verify them in Ads Manager. Currently, TikTok's minimum media budget is €20 per day. A genuine business test, however, needs more than the minimum.
In Finland, for example, a media budget of €1,500–3,000 over roughly 4–6 weeks can give one clear goal a usable start, provided the target conversion isn't very expensive. Content production is budgeted separately. Smaller budgets can test attention and traffic signals, but shouldn't be used to draw strong conclusions about sales potential.
Note
The budget examples are Komi Media's professional starting points, not results promised by the platforms or fixed minimum requirements. Platform features, ad formats and technical limits are always checked before a campaign launches.
Define success before launch
Choose a primary goal and set limits: how much you're willing to pay per customer, which content will be tested, and over what time frame. Alongside TikTok's attributed conversions, track total e-commerce sales, new customers and assisted effects.
How to proceed in practice
Before committing media spend, run a content trial. Produce 6–10 different TikTok-native videos and assess whether the team can sustain a similar rhythm. Organic posting isn't a perfect predictor for advertising, but it reveals production bottlenecks and helps you find a natural voice.
Limit the first test to one product or one clear goal. Combining multiple product groups, a broad audience structure and several goals makes conclusions harder to draw. Choose material that shows the product in use and addresses real purchase barriers.
Decide your continuation criteria in advance. The channel can continue if cost approaches the target, content signals are strong, or TikTok demonstrably brings new audiences. The test can be stopped if production proves unsustainable or traffic quality stays weak despite multiple concepts.
